About the department

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2012 with 60 intakes. It has a built-up area spread about 680 sq.mt making it the single largest department in the entire institute foran intake of 60 students.
 Discipline is the first thing we in still in our students. Thedepartment has 1 Gold medal, 2 Students projects secured InterCollege level Best project award.The Department also supports students in sports aand cultural activities.
 The department has a repute of its own for imbibing ethics, humanity and discipline in its students apart from formal education.
 If you are looking yourself as a skilled and able Civil Engineer withnecessary knowledge and attitude three years from now, then it is the Department of Civil Engineering at GMIT - POLYTECHNIC you must join in.
 Every year few of our students got placed in–campus drive and most of them go on to establish themselves as entrepreneurs in different Civil Engineering fields. So far, more than 30 alumni of the Department are working in Private sector in different departments and capacities.
 As per the new C-20 curriculum more practical sessions than theory hence easy to get merit result, Focus onSkill Development, Industry requirement syllabus,Diploma holders can choose from industries like government and non-government sectors, PSU's, construction and management,software, consulting, aerospace, research, cement industries etc.

1. To provide the technical knowledge and best practices in emerging technologies in the areas of Civil Engineering.
2. To impart industry ready design skills in infrastructure development for the betterment of the society.
3. To provide technical skills to self entrepreneurs
