Miniaturization, Compactness, Intelligence and Economy are the watch word of Electronics and Communication. Department  of Electronics & Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001 with an intake of 60, which has been enhanced to 120 intake.  The Post Graduate Programme in Digital Electronics has been introduced during the academic year 2009-2010 with a intake of 18. Research Centre was established in the year 2010, provides facilities to do the research activities for the PG students and research associates. Electronics & Communication Engineering department has well equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipment's along with the room for research oriented activities. The department has dedicated staff with subject expertise to give excellent guidance to the students and  train the students in technical aspects, communication skills and interpersonal relationships. The department maintains  departmental library which is having more than 2000 books, helping faculty and students in updating their knowledge.  The graduates from the department are playing a vital role in the technological revolution and are instrumental in placing Karnataka on the Global Industrial Landscape. These professionals have been placed in major industries and multinational corporations such as IBM, Motorola, Siemens, Alcatel, Intel, Microsoft, ISRO etc. and many of others are successful entrepreneurs.


The department has developed a strong bond with its alumni association and promotes long term relationship with the industries in the fields of VLSI & Embedded Systems, Communication & Networking, Signal Processing, Fiber Optics  and Image Processing; providing comprehensive experience to the students.

To provide academic ambiance which will develop technically adaptive, socially, ethically responsible quality electronics and communication engineers.



The Educational Objectives of the department's programs are based on the mission of the department and the perceived needs of the constituents.


The Program Educational Objectives of the ECE curricula read as follows:


Objective 1: Technical Proficiency.

1.Graduates shall have strong foundation in basic sciences, mathematics, Engineering fundamentals in electronics and communication engineering subjects in addition to modern tools and technologies. They will demonstrate sustained learning and adapting to a constantly changing field through graduate work, professional development, and self study.

2.Graduates who are employed within engineering fields will demonstrate technical competence, such as identifying, formulating, analyzing, and creating engineering solutions using appropriate current engineering techniques, skills, and tools.


Objective 2: Professional Growth.

1.Graduates will engage in life-long learning to emerge as researchers, experts, and educators. They will participate in lifelong-learning activities that enhance their professional and personal development.

2.Graduates will exhibit leadership and vision in contributing to the technical and policy decisions of industry, government, and research enterprises and lead their professional disciplines, organizations, and communities around the world.


Objective 3:Management Skills.

1.Graduates will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork while working with others of diverse cultural and interdisciplinary backgrounds. They will demonstrate problem-solving abilities, possess the ability to communicate effectively, inspire high ethical and technical standards, skills for management  and professional ethics.
