About department

The Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE) is a pioneering branch amongst all the Engineering branches. The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department was established in the year 2001 with an intake of 60, which enhanced to 120 intake. The Post Graduate Programme in Digital Electronics has been introduced during the academic year 2009- 2010 with intake of 18. Research Centre was established in the year 2010, provides facilities to do research activities for the PG students and research associates. The Electronics & Communication Engineering department has well equipped laboratories with sophisticated equipments along with the room for research oriented activities. The department has dedicated and experienced staff with expertise to give excellent guidance to the students and train the students in technical aspects, communication skills and interpersonal relationships. The department maintains departmental library which is having more than 2000 books, helping faculty and students in updating their knowledge. The graduates from the department are playing a vital role in the technological revolution and are instrumental in placing Karnataka state on the Global Industrial Landscape. These professionals have been placed in major industries and multinational corporations such as IBM, Motorola, Siemens, Alcatel, Intel,Microsoft, ISRO etc.

The department has developed a strong bond with its alumni association and promotes long term relationship with the industries in the fields of VLSI & Embedded Systems, Communication & Networking, Signal Processing, Fiber Optics and Image Processing providing comprehensive experience to the students. The Department has MOU with APCOG,Bangaluru.

The Department is well equipped with high end design and analysis laboratories like Analog & Digital Circuits, Communication Lab, VLSI Design Lab and Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab which are used extensively by the students and faculty members for their curriculum and research activities. It offers scope in the field of research includes, mobile communication, Microwave communication, robotics, radio communication, TV broadcasting, VLSI design, Signal Processing.

The forum “WIZONICS” acts as a platform for students to develop soft skills and exhibit their talent in students activities. The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department focuses on Education and competitive spirit amongst students towards academic excellence.

Mission

To establish a unique learning environment using efeective teaching learning process to face challenges in the field of electronics and communication engineering.

PO's

1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2.Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3.Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4.Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6.The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professionalengineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of,and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10.Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
