Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2002, with an intake of 60 students, which has been enhanced to 120. The department offers Master's degree in Machine Design. The department is recognized as research center by VTU in the year 2013, provides facilities to do research activities for the students, research associates and faculty. Department has made rapid strides in providing all the facilities needed for training of students. Blessed with a highly qualified, dedicated and competent team of faculty members both teaching and non-teaching, provides excellent practical training through well-equipped and sophisticated laboratories and workshops.
Computerized Universal Testing Machine, High-resolution metallurgical microscope, State of the art Metrology lab, CAD/CAM lab, sophisticated IC Engines and hydraulics Lab, Heat Transfer and Design Labs are some of the unique features of the department.
All the laboratories and workshops are located in new look and well-designed buildings. Latest modeling and Analysis software packages are available in the CAD / CAM lab for hands on training to the students.
Emphasis is being laid on research and considerable consultancy work is being taken up in the department.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branches in Engineering which is highly versatile and having tremendous scope in the Design, Manufacturing and Thermal fields.
The course emphasizes on the strong fundamentals of Mechanical engineering and blend with the inter- discipline technologies with the invention of CAD/CAM, CNC,Energy Engineering and Robotics, etc.
The department is having highly qualified and experienced faculty members to guide the students.
Many of the Faculty are having rich experience in the industries that helps, in imparting the practical applications to the students.
Highly skilled and experienced Staff and Lab technicians are guiding the students in practical classes.
To develop competent Mechanical engineers to work in an interdisciplinary environment with innovation and professional ethics to serve the needs of society.
1. Imparting quality education to students to excel in Mechanical Engineering.
2. To prepare technocrats with professional skills to meet industrial needs and for higher education.
3. To develop ethically and socially responsible engineers capable to solve real time problems.
PEO 1: To prepare students with overall knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and enabling them to understand specific problem areas and finding optimum solutions for the same.
PEO2: To train the students on emerging trends of technology with required technical skills to meet industrial needs and encourage to pursue higher education, research and spirit of entrepreneurship.
PEO3: To mould the engineers with required professional ethics and values, to serve the society at large.
1.Graduates of Mechanical engineering are capable to use technical skills to pursue research and higher education in the field of advanced materials and sustaibale energy sources.
2.Graduates of Mechanical engineering will demonstrate skills in design and development of Mechanical systems and processes.
